Halifamous Delivered over $120K in Support of Family SOS and it’s all thanks to you!
To our Halifamous Supporters,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Despite the weather, your overwhelming show of support for the first ever Halifamous Delivers has exceeded our expectations and we’re so happy to have crossed this special milestone together.
We successfully “sold the city out of pizza!”
Thanks to your purchase as well as the money pledged by our very own Halifamous, the event raised over $120,000.00 to support children and families in our community.
We spent the week contemplating the best way forward and faced the unfortunate reality that getting all of our volunteers, community supporters and Halifamous together for a new date, just wasn’t possible. That doesn’t mean we can’t all enjoy our pizza!
Next week you’ll receive a gift card in the mail so that you can enjoy your pizza when it’s convenient for you and your family. From February 19th to March 1st, Family SOS will be doing several giveaways on social media and we hope that you’ll participate.
How to enter:
Post a photo of your pizza on Facebook or Instagram
Tag the pizza shop and @familysoshfx
Use hashtag #halifamousdelivers and, in your caption, tells us what your favourite pizza topping is and who you’re enjoying your pizza with (friends, family, kids, etc)
Family SOS has some great prizes lined up and we hope you’ll help us celebrate the power of community by posting your pizza. From our perspective, you’re all #halifamous.
If you have any questions, please reach out directly to katherine@familysos.ca

THE FLEMMING FAMILY
After establishing a successful business, Ocean Contractors Limited, Jack and Marion Flemming had the desire to “give back” to their community. As such, they created The Flemming Charitable Foundation in 1999 with a mission to assist men, women, children and families in need by virtue of their being poor, handicapped or disadvantaged, at a local level. In 2016 the family completed their succession from first to second generation, with sons John and Scott now at the helm of the operating companies, and daughters Karen and Colleen overseeing the family’s charitable foundation
The Flemmings have been longtime supporters of Family SOS and when the opportunity arose to participate in Halifamous Delivers, they couldn’t resist. With family being core to everything they do as well as their general willingness to contribute to the community at large,The Flemmings know that every goal is achievable with the right people on your team. They are committed to not only Family SOS but to their pledge of $20K in the fight against food insecurity right here in Halifax.
THE ARMOYAN FAMILY
In 1982, George Armoyan founded Armco Capital and grew it from a small business run almost entirely by two brothers into a diversified and dynamic group of companies. Though still true to its roots as a residential real estate developer, over the years Armco’s portfolio has expanded to include many commercial and industrial development sites.
The Armoyan Family has always put corporate responsibility at the centre of their mandate in order to help organizations provide measurable impact to the communities that need it most. As proud supporters of QEII Lottery, Mental Health Foundation and Feed NS to name a few, The Armoyans were happy to step up when Family SOS needed them most and are committed to reaching their $20K goal in the fight against food insecurity.
Dr. Lisa Barrett and Revolve CEO Phil Otto team up to help sell Halifax out of pizza and raise much needed funds for Family SOS.
Dr. Lisa Barrett has gone from being a well-known name in the international science and infectious disease community to a recognizable voice and face in households across Canada. Whether its the latest on emerging vaccines, a leader in rapid testing, or proper mask usage, Barrett has been a trusted source to local, regional and national media for sharing the facts around Covid-19. The infectious disease doctor, research scientist and assistant professor of immunology also spent two and half years conducting clinical trials and lab work with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Chief Medical Advisor to US President Joe Biden.
Phil Otto was instrumental in getting the Halifamous Delivers concept off the ground with his good friend Rob Steele. Phil is a past Courage Award recipient and has been a long time supporter of Family SOS. The father of four, considered one of Canada’s strongest brand strategists, is a passionate supporter of entrepreneurism, local business and the community.
Both Barrett and Otto support the Covid friendly approach to this unique fundraising event for an organization dedicated to pro-active family programming and addressing the food insecurity problems faced by so many families.
